Split rules, balance history, and a smarter Advisor

July 2026 Stowe product updates

Split rules, balance history, and a smarter Advisor

We've shipped a number of updates since launch: rules can now split transactions automatically, your accounts show balance history, and account details are one tap away from any transaction. We've also been fine-tuning the Stowe Advisor.

This work helps in a few significant ways: less manual cleanup, ensuring your Stowe account is accurate and quicker, more useful answers when you're checking on your money. Here's what's new.

Rules can now split transactions

Rules are how Stowe handles the repetitive cleanup work. If you transfer money to your landlord every month, Stowe can automatically treat it as rent going forward. You set it once and it keeps working.

Until now, rules couldn't handle transactions that cover more than one thing. If that transfer to your landlord includes both rent and utilities, you had to split it by hand each month. Now a rule can do the splitting for you. Every new matching transaction gets split automatically, and you can apply a split rule across multiple existing transactions at once, so cleaning up past months doesn't mean fixing them one at a time.

See how your balances change over time

Your account screen now shows how each balance has changed month to month.

A balance tells you how much is in the account today, but not which direction it's heading. Balance history makes that visible. If your chequing account has been slowly drifting down since spring, or your savings hasn't grown as much as you expected, you'll see it right on the account screen.

Account details, one tap from any transaction

You can now tap any transaction to view its source account, including the balance and account details. Before, checking which account a charge hit meant backing out of the transaction and finding the account in your list. Now the answer is one tap away.

A smarter Stowe Advisor

We've been fine-tuning the Stowe Advisor, and the daily check-in in particular. It now does a better job of reviewing yesterday's transactions, showing which bills are coming up, and putting your spending in context: how it compares to the previous week, and how you're tracking for the month.

The feedback on the daily check-in has been some of the most positive we've received on any feature so far, and we're going to keep improving it.

Multi-currency accounts show correctly

If you have accounts in other currencies, their transactions now display in the correct currency.

One caveat worth knowing: household totals still use your default currency and don't convert exchange rates. If you hold a USD account in a CAD household, the totals treat those dollars at face value for now.

Privacy labels are now your call

Stowe is built for households, which means some accounts are shared and some stay yours alone. Until now, transactions always carried a Private or Shared label. Now you can choose to mark transactions as Private, as Shared, or leave them unlabelled entirely.

Some people like seeing at a glance what their partner can see. Others know how their household is set up and found the labels noisy.

Other updates, big and small

  • Jump to Insurance and Telecom. The Insurance and Telecom cards on the Household screen are now tappable and take you straight to those recurring transactions.
  • Better categorization. We've improved transaction categorization and cleaned up category labels.
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements throughout all releases in July.
